Qualifications
- Experience doing Coverage Analysis or Budget Reviews of clinical trials
- BA degree in business or healthcare related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven analytical and modeling skills
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and experience with CPT, HCPCS, ICD10 codes as they relate to clinical research billing
- Ability to work are part of a collaborative team & excellent communication skills
- Strong investigative and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Performs cost coverage analysis or budget reviews for all clinical research studies
- Serves as a consultant to guide other personnel on what patient care items and services are considered standard of care
- Creates study budget for any and all research activity occurring within the hospital facility to accurately determine relevant costs associated with all research activity
- Ensures compliant research billing as mandated by regulatory agencies (FDA, OHRP, OIG, CMS)
- Acts as a liaison between finance depts., patient financial services, facility research directors and system reimbursement services for the purpose of communicating information regarding the National Coverage Decision for clinical trials and other federal research regulations
- Performs patient account audits to ensure compliance, such as individual patient billing audits, study audits, device audits and validation of data and information contained within institutional systems (e.g., Epic, IRB system, clinical trial mgmt. system, etc.)
- Interacts with sponsors, physicians, colleagues, facility administrators, and patient financial services to ensure effective communication and project coordination
