General Summary/Overview Statement

The Financial Analyst II position supports the Mass General Brigham Budget Office. Focus on financial reporting and data management. Fulfills requests from local finance staff related to the annual budget process and the month end closes. Serves as the primary Finance contact for assigned Business Units and major VP areas of Mass General Brigham on issues regarding the budget system, reporting, and analysis. Provides in-depth analytical, budget, and special project work for Mass General Brigham corporate accounting and budget management.

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

Assist in the Mass General Brigham annual operating budget by summarizing and reviewing department budget submissions, coordinating information, and creating reports.
Develop strong working relationships with department managers, directors, and VPs, including variance reporting and ad hoc analyses.
Support VP areas during the monthly financial close. This includes review of A/P and payroll details, journal entries, reconciliations, analytical review of all expenses, and the generation of summary schedules for management.
Provide budget analytic support for the managers as determined by the Budget Manager and Budget Director. Includes monthly close analysis, accrual review, reporting, annual budget review and budget adjustments throughout the year.
Responsible for budget training, routine support, system enhancements, and testing.
Prepare schedules to be included in the monthly P&L analytic package for the Mass General Brigham Accounting close meetings.
Maintain user lists, system security, and access for Hyperion, Vision, and PeopleSoft.
Update and maintain reports in Hyperion and Vision.
Ad hoc report development as needed.
Assist with other assignments as required.

Qualifications

Bachelor´s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics
Knowledge of accounting principles and budgeting techniques
Minimum of 3 years related experience in financial analysis in healthcare industry.
Strong skills in efficiency, automation, and work process improvement.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision and work with multiple levels of management.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required

Advanced use of MS Excel and Access programs.
Prior knowledge of PeopleSoft, BI tools and efficiency at query analysis required.
Excellent attention to detail
Strong oral and written communication skills
Exceptional customer service; ability to work effectively as a member of team
Self-motivated, resourceful, including knowledge of resources to answer questions and find required data and information.
Works efficiently and with sense of urgency
Strong analytical and technical skills

Working Conditions

Office environment.
Requires occasional local travel to Mass General Brigham sites and affiliates.
