What will I do in this position if hired?

In this position, you will be analyzing BRIC review cycle processes to identify process owners, cycle time, variations, bottlenecks, and redundancies to support streamlining and other program improvements. You will be extracting, compiling, and analyzing data from various internal and external data sources using industry standard software such as Python, R, and Tableau.

Developing and presenting data, communicating and gathering technical requirements, translating analytical and technical information into user friendly formats while engaging stakeholders.
Managing multiple projects and stakeholders, while maintaining documentation and communications with leadership and team members.
Building charts, data analyses, and interactive dashboards in visualization software such as Tableau.
Recommending technical approaches to the compilation and presentation of data sets.

This announcement is for a position as a CORE (Cadre of On-Call Response/Recovery Employee).CORE employees are full-time employees hired to directly support the response and recovery efforts related to disasters. Appointments to CORE positions are typically between two years and four years in duration and may be renewed based upon workload needs and funding availability. Employees are hired under the Robert T. Stafford Act and are excluded from the provisions of title 5, United States Code, governing jobs in the competitive service. They can be hired under a streamlined process instead of a competitive process. After three years of continuous service, Stafford Act employees may be granted competitive eligibility to apply for permanent full-time positions at FEMA.

Qualifications

All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.

To qualify for this position at the IC-11 level (starting salary $78,592), you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-09 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:

Performing reporting, analytics, and data visualization; AND
Ensuring accuracy throughout the collection and reporting of all data elements; AND
Preparing guidance documents for work plans

OR

Ph.D. or equivalent graduate degree

OR

3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree

OR

LL.M., if related

OR

A combination of education and experience described above, which meets 100% of the qualification requirement.

AND

Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

To qualify for this position at the IC-12 level (starting salary $94,199), you must possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the IC-11 level in the Federal government, which has equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience may be obtained in the Federal or Private Sector and must demonstrate all of the following:

Performing reporting, analytics, and data visualization; AND
Ensuring accuracy throughout the collection and reporting of all data elements; AND
Preparing guidance documents for work plans; AND
Identifying problems and collecting information to find a resolution.

AND

Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position.

Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
