The majority of staff work 100% remote with occasional need for in-person meetings, trainings, and events. Current University policy supports this but may change in the future to require a minimum number of days on campus with the remaining remote. Purpose

Provide financial and statistical information to customer departments including but not limited to financial reports, budget maintenance, variance analysis, rate reviews, and personnel management reports to facilitate business decision-making.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain electronic applications, databases, queries and financial reports to provide accurate financial data as needed. Prepare and analyze various financial and personnel reports and provide recommended conclusions based on analysis of information and assist management in resolving complex financial issues.
Assist in preparing annual budget for assigned customer departments to establish and account for all operating funds and all full-time employees. Throughout the year, provide oversight for customer department budgets. Monitor operating account balances, expenditures, and encumbrances. Advise customer department management when balances are in deficit. Process funds transfers with appropriate signature authorization as needed. Ensure that operating accounts certifications are completed each month. Research and resolve budgetary and expense issues as required for assigned units.
Coordination and compilation of information from various department resources to complete the THECB annual report and the APPA FPI survey on behalf of Planning, Energy and Facilities departments.
Active participant in annual merit process which includes providing personnel rosters for customer departments, preparing data entry and reconciliation spreadsheets, and researching anomalies. Provide Human Resources Support Services staff with list of employee salary adjustments for processing. Verify accuracy of data entry to Human Resource Management System.
Provide professional, consistent, timely, and reliable communication via e-mail or other mediums. Act as backup for co-workers when needed.
Review and verify funding and position availability using Workday, DocuSign, and approved budgets for all personnel actions for customer departments as part of pay action process.
Create and update SOI's and/or training as needed for primary and backup tasks.
Other related functions as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration. Five years of progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting with experience in planning, forecasting and financial analysis.

Ability to plan, initiate, and complete assignments with a minimum of direction. Proficient in gathering, analyzing, merging, and presenting financial data using personal computer and related software including Microsoft products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and others). Advanced skills in Excel, including use of complex formulas, pivot tables, charts and graphs. Ability to work with attention to detail and under pressure of multiple deadlines. Excellent communication oral and written, planning, problem solving, project management and customer service skills.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's Degree in Business or related field. More than five years of required experience. Ability to design and create comprehensive and detailed financial reports. Experience manipulating complex spreadsheet data to analyze data trends and create management reports. Working knowledge of Power Query, Tableau, or other business intelligence. Experience with accounting at the University of Texas at Austin, UT DEFINE, and other university applications. Knowledge of HCM ERP such as Workday. Working knowledge of UT accounting and procurement policies and procedures. Strong quantitative skills. Experience with Box including providing permissions and maintaining content for sites.

Salary Range

$60,000 + depending on qualifications
