Position Summary:

This individual will provide financial analysis supporting the Crude Gathering organization based out of San Antonio. The Crude Gathering team is responsible for developing a growth strategy for both the Permian Basin and Bakken Basin as well as grow the business commercially by developing strong customer relationships. The team is responsible for approximately $140MM capital growth budget annually. This position will support individual project/opportunity analysis including financial modeling as well as coordinating and supporting the development of materials for leadership reviews and approvals. This individual will also be responsible for supporting the budget process associated with growth capital projects and will be asked to routinely analyze market and industry data to support recommendations for strategy and investment. Close coordination with other MPLX and MPC Commercial and support groups will be necessary on a regular basis.

Key Responsibilities:

Works closely with BD management/advisors to evaluate organic growth business opportunities through economic modeling, forecasting and analysis
Assists with creation and review of presentation materials for management updates, approval requests, 3rd party customer communications, etc.
Works closely with Business Owners, Project Controls and Business Planning and Analysis (BP&A) supporting the Commercial West organization with the budget processes, including creation of budget economics, budget summarization spreadsheets and presentation materials
Works closely with Project Controls for continued alignment of project scope, cost, timing and economics
Maintains knowledge of FERC guidelines and constraints, regularly reviewing applicable FERC and State tariff language, rules and regulations, footnotes, etc.
Assists in creation of term sheets, authorization requests, briefing sheets and other Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) materials
Active in creation of BD internal communications reports, working with business owners and BP&A to gather appropriate data, evaluate trends, etc.
Assists in gathering competitor and market analysis information and creating associated communication materials
Occasionally participates in meetings with 3rd parties to discuss current or future business opportunities
Maintains familiarity with key customer contracts, terms, special considerations, etc.
Assists in special projects (rate analysis , open seasons, 3rd party business evaluation or due diligence)
Manages Asset portfolio and active in portfolio analysis exercises

Education & Experience:

Bachelors required; Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred
Minimum of 7 years experience in a financial analysis role working with the business; 5-years of experience with focus and understanding of midstream business segment preferred

Skills:

Has understanding and ability to execute financial models to determine Internal Rate of Return (IRR) and Net Present Value (NPV) for growth related projects.
Demonstrated ability to present to business leaders and advisors
Team player with ability to build relationships with good collaboration and communication skills. Must work with various internal organizations and at times external companies.
