Position Overview:

Masterworks is looking for a Coordinator to join the Art Operations team and support both Acquisitions and Private Sales logistics and administration for our rapidly growing collection of post-war and contemporary art. Our ideal candidate possesses an impeccable attention to detail, interests in operations and logistics, has effective communication skills, and is passionate about working directly with artwork.

Responsibilities Overview

Artwork Cataloging
Maintaining and confirming artwork details, including images, dimensions, cataloging, labels
Researching and scanning all relevant provenance, exhibition, and literature for each acquisition
Contacting artists estates, studios, archive for confirming certificates of authenticity and registration cards
Conducting Interpol and FBI checks (Stolen Artwork Searches)
Artwork Logistics
Coordinating condition inspections for potential acquisitions (domestic and international)
Reviewing shipment quotes and booking shipments
Manage movement of works to/from the Masterworks Gallery and storage facilities
Assist Registrar with object reporting and ensure no change have occurred during transit
Administration, Procedures, and Project Management
Ensure all operational policies and procedures are followed during artwork acquisitions and sales
Oversee the Acquisitions Memo process
Manage consignment agreements for artwork sales
General administrative support for the Art Operations Team

Team Overview

The Art Operations Coordinator sits within the Artwork Operations Team, who is responsible for all artwork transactions, logistics, and collection management of the Masterworks Portfolio.
The Art Operations Coordinator is supervised by the Registrar. The Art Operations Department reports to the EVP of Acquisitions.

Requirements and Preferred Skillsets

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
1-2 years working in an artwork operations or logistics role, or in an administrative role at a major auction house, gallery, storage facility or arts advisory
Extreme attention to detail and project management abilities
Do-it-all attitude, quick problem solver, superb administrative abilities
Basic knowledge of condition reporting standards and object conservation
Prior database management experience a plus

How does Masterworks think about compensation?

The compensation range for the role is $60-65k (inclusive only of base salary, and exclusive of other potential competitive benefits such as on-target commission, bonus payments, and equity). Our ranges are very broad to accommodate all types of candidates and encourage growth. Specific compensation offered to a candidate may be dependent on factors such as education, experience, qualifications, and alignment with market data. Exceptional candidates may receive salaries outside of the posted ranges.
