GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Accountant will help support the Corporate Accounting Group by performing primarily account payables functions along with supporting some specific accounting functions for the firm. They may be asked to perform general ledger account work along with supporting audits. While the candidate will be expected to work primarily on accounts payables functions to gain a greater understanding of the process and our accounting/finance team, we anticipate that the role will transition into a more accounting-based role focused on month and year-end closing activities, the preparation of financial reports as well as the fiscal year audit. This role reports to the Controller.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for completing timely and accurate accounts payable, and general accounting tasks in support of the company’s financial operations.
Prepare and process accounts payable invoices as required as well as balancing general ledger accounts through audits and reconciliation.
Update and classifying, recording, and maintaining date (e.g. vendor information, vendor invoices and payments) within the firm’s ERP system(Oracle)).
Verify the accuracy of corporate purchase invoices and other accounting documents or records.
Communicate internally with various department within MAI, along with external vendors regarding invoices and payments.
Assist with month-end/year-end closing activities (monthly aging reports, monthly accruals and accounts payable reporting)
Assist in the preparation of financial reports with reliable conclusions that management can use to implement more effective operational strategies.
Manage journal entries and reconcile vendor/suppliers customer accounts for the monthly and annual closing.
Responsible for all aspects of Accounts Payable for the firm on a daily basis and for monthly closing activities including timely investigation and resolution of duplicate invoice, unapplied payments, and discrepancies.
Continued focus on digital payment methods for the invoices and reducing the need to send paper checks.
Participate in preparation for the annual audit.
Assist in the monthly calculation of medical claims reserve as well as the reconciliation of the medical insurance funding.
Work on facilitating the integration of the Concur expense reporting module into Oracle
Additional assignments as needed.

EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIALS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
2+ years of experience and knowledge of accounting general ledger
Working knowledge of accounts payable systems and databases
Experience analyzing data and summarizing findings
